UNLOADING OF DUCTILE IRON PIPES

The Truck should be parked on a level ground.

During unloading, personnel should never be in front or side of the pipes.

Workmen and any other personnel in the area should wear and use appropriate safety equipment.

Pipe should never be rolled off the carrier or dropped. A forklift or crane should be used for unloading.

Precautions should be taken to prevent the pipe from rolling or shifting during unloading.

Personnel not directly involved in the unloading operation should stand clear
STORING DUCTILE IRON PIPES

Pipes being stored for an extended period of time should be stacked and timbers should be used to keep the bottom tier off the ground to keep dirt and debris out.

Pipes on succeeding tiers should be alternated socket end to spigot end.

For safety and convenience, each size should be stacked separately.

Since gaskets supplied are made of rubber, they should be stored in a cool location out of direct sunlight and should have no contact with petroleum products.
